1st Quarter 2011 Fund Holder Update

We are pleased to present an update for Jewish Foundation fund holders along with fund statements for the period ending March 31, 2011.

Thanks to those who were able to attend the Jewish Foundation's 15th annual meeting on March 31, 2011.  In addition to the election of new board members and officers, we highlighted the Jewish Foundation's commitment to the Jewish camping movement by honoring local One Happy Camper* donors Debra and Alex Saharovich and Barbara and Earl Magdovitz.  You can read about meeting highlights by clicking on the following link: 2011 Annual Meeting

Instructions for Successor Advisors
Do the successor advisors to your fund understand your charitable priorities? The Guiding Document for Successor Advisors provides a way for you to document your preferences regarding the distribution of assets in your fund after your death.  I encourage you to spend a few moments filling out the attached form. If you have not named successor advisors and would like the remaining assets distributed to your favorite charitable organizations, you will want to complete the Guiding Document for Funds with no Successor Advisors.  Be sure to return your completed form to the JFOM office so it can be added to your file.

Gifts of Stock
Now may be a great time for you to contribute stock to your  Donor Advised Fund!  You can make the contribution today and at a later time (or whenever you are ready) recommend how those funds are to be disbursed to your favorite charities. To learn more about how you can make a gift of stock click on the following link:  Gifts of Stock.

*$1,000 Toward the Cost of Camp
Do you know someone attending a Jewish camp for the first time this summer?  Log on to One Happy Camper to see if your camper qualifies to receive $1,000 toward the cost of camp.

IRA Charitable Rollover
If you are age 70 ½ or older you can take advantage of the re-enacted provision allowing for tax-free charitable contributions from your retirement plan.  Although you may not make contributions to your donor advised fund, you may want to consider this option to fulfill commitments to other qualified charities. Discuss this option with your professional advisor to determine if this gifting strategy makes sense for you.  To read more about ways to utilize your IRA to support your favorite charities click on the following link:  IRA Charitable Rollover
